12 million people unemployed in Pakistan due to epidemic diseases: Governor Sarwar

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that the PTI government is making every effort to protect all sections of the society, especially the backward sections of the society, in the fight against Covid-19 in the country.

Addressing various delegations meeting him at the Governor House on Friday, Chaudhry Sarwar stressed that all political and religious parties should play their full role in tackling the epidemic and economic woes in the country. He said that people should also take complete precautionary measures to be safe from the dreaded corona virus. He lamented that the corona virus epidemic has created a severe economic crisis all over the world and added that 12 million people have lost their jobs in Pakistan alone.

Aware of the ground realities, he said, the federal and Punjab governments were taking all possible steps to help them besides providing rations.

The fight against the corona virus epidemic is not a problem of any individual or political party but of the entire nation. "Now is the time for all Pakistanis to join hands to defeat the epidemic," he said. Stating that this is not the time to play petty politics, Chaudhry Sarwar said that all political and religious parties should create awareness and make the people aware of security measures.

Chaudhry Sarwar said that he himself consists of 60 welfare organizations in collaboration with the Punjab Development Network in which work is being done to provide rations to 500,000 poor families.
