If it is proved that I had confessed to fixing, then I should be hanged, Basit Ali

Former Test cricketer Basit Ali has denied allegations made by former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive officer (CEO) Arif Abbasi and former team manager Intikhab Alam about admitting to fixing in 1994.

Former PCB CEO Arif Abbasi said in a video statement that after a visit to Sri Lanka in 1994, manager Intikhab Alam had said that Basit Ali had confessed to fixing.

He said that as PCB chief executive, Intikhab Alam was asked to record the incident in the tour report but unfortunately Intikhab Alam did not mention the incident in his report. Intikhab Alam made a mistake by not mentioning the incident.

Later, Intikhab Alam also confirmed the statement of Arif Abbasi and said that he had mentioned Basit Ali's fixing confession to Arif Abbasi but did not mention it in his report due to lack of evidence.
However, now former Test cricketer Basit Ali has rejected the claims of Arif Abbasi and Intikhab Alam and said that if anyone proves that I had confessed to fixing, then I should be hanged.

He said that if anyone proves this in any court of the world, I should be ready for punishment. After the statement of Arif Abbasi, I have spoken to Intikhab-e-Alam and these two people are my elders who said that fixing on me is wrong. Said

Basit Ali said that the claim of Arif Abbasi is false, I will go to court against him.

It may be recalled that the case started at a time when former captain Saleem Malik had apologized to the nation 19 years later, claiming to have revealed all the secrets regarding the fixing.

Earlier, he had demanded that he be given a chance to return to cricket like Mohammad Aamir and Sharjeel Khan.

Since Saleem Malik's statement, new revelations are coming to light every day about past corruption in the Pakistan cricket team.
